Rent-subsidized co-working space now available!

 

When our little nonprofit organization was ready to find a permanent home, we scoured Berkeley for months looking for the right environment. In the end, we found great landlords and an amazing location - so we worked out a long-term lease and hired a professional designer to heavily renovate the space (sparing no expense), in order to create something special that we can grow into over many years.

Now, we want to share that space with you! Because we’re a nonprofit looking to provide space for Berkeley-area professionals and entrepreneurs working to create a better world, we’re subsidizing the spaces by $100-1,000 per month.

Unlike commercial co-working spaces, we aren’t under any pressure to make money off of this arrangement. We just want to improve the world, our work environment, and the lives of hardworking East Bay residents by sharing our ample room and great neighborhood with other mission-driven professionals.

Great places to eat, caffeinate, and recharge: We’re across the street from Whole Foods and Philz Coffee and ~1 block from Walgreens, Chipotle,  Sanctuary Bistro, La Calle 10, Funky Elephant, and other restaurants

After hours entertainment: Blocks away from multiple breweries, wineries, and concert venues

Easy access to the rest of Berkeley: We’re a 1 minute walk from bus access to Downtown Berkeley, BART, and other locations, and a ~10 minute walk from the restaurants, coffee shops, stores and fitness centers of the Fourth Street Shopping Area.

Easily drive, bike, bus, or walk to work: There’s ample free parking within 2 blocks of the building (we’ve never had trouble finding a spot). The area is extremely pedestrian-friendly, and we can accommodate bikes in our storage area.

Surrounding East Bay residents: We’re a 1 minute drive from I-80 and I-580

  • Flexible lease terms at $435/mo* for each desk

*For reference, a dedicated desk at WeWork costs more than $100/mo more. We’re aiming to rent to the best suitemates to help them make a positive impact on the world, rather than to maximize rental revenues. Because we want to find and maintain the best suitemates, we can even discount rent proportionally to lease term, up to 10% for those that commit to a year with us!

  • Electronic adjustable-height desks (sit, stand, or bring your treadmill and walk in place)

  • Free access to all of the office amenities, listed here

  • Month-to-month, 3-month, 6-month, or 9-month lease options. Talk to us if you’re interested in something longer term.

We’re asking for $1380/mo for the total space, for 1-4 occupants. We prefer to rent it out as a unit.

For reference, a 4-person private office at WeWork costs almost $1,000/mo more. We’re aiming to rent to the best suitemates to help them make a positive impact on the world, rather than to maximize rental revenues.
